HK's New World Mobility Marks 500,000th Mobile Subscriber

New World Mobility (NWM), one of the major mobile services providers in Hong Kong, on Thursday announced its milestone of 500,000 mobile phone users and also partnership with Yahoo! Hong Kong to provide the latest and most dynamic global information.

"Achieving this milestone of 500,000 subscribers proves that we are strongly supported by mobile users and are recognized as a leading player in Hong Kong's highly competitive market," said Albert Wong, chief executive of New World Telephone Group, at a press conference.

"We are also very pleased that New World Mobility has been the fastest growing mobile operator for the second consecutive year, with an over 100 percent increase in customer growth compared to the preceding year," Wong noted.

As one of the first mobile operators to make Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) services available in Hong Kong, NWM also announced the cooperation with Yahoo! Hong Kong.

A wide variety of Yahoo! Hong Kong services which include world news and weather, financial and technology news and Yahoo! Auctions will soon be available to users from a mobile handset.

NWM, whose mobile service are provided by New World Telephone Group, currently offers a speed of 14.4 kbps for transferring mobile data, which pioneered the high speed mobile data market in Hong Kong. NWM will launch its innovative WAP services once the WAP handsets are available. (Xinhua)
