Visiting Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji said in Singapore on November 30 that the entry of China into the World Trade Organization (WTO) will do good to the countries in Southeast Asia. China, as a developing country, will also open its market to other developing countries including those in Asia, Zhu made the remarks while meeting with Singaporean President Nathan. After entering the WTO, China will continue to cooperate with other developing countries in seeking economic prosperity, Zhu stressed. Nathan, who praised China for its responsible attitude during the Asian financial crisis, said that China's accession into the WTO will help boost China's economy, which in turn, will benefit the Southeast Asian countries including Singapore. During the talks, Zhu also expressed satisfaction over the cooperation between the China and Singapore since they established diplomatic relations in October 1990.
