The present organizations of Taiwan in Macao will be allowed to continue to exist with appropriate names after Macao's return to the motherland, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi said at a regular press conference here today. Taiwan's organizations and their staff in Macao should strictly abide by the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, Sun said. He said that these organizations and their staff should not violate the "one China" principle, and should not engage in any activities that threaten the stability of Macao and do not conform to the purposes of their groups as listed in their registration documents. The organizations are welcome and encouraged to make contributions to the reunification of the motherland and the stability and development of Macao, said the spokesman. |
