Li and his entourage were seen off at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by Speaker Francis Kaparo of Kenya's National Assembly and other high-ranking Kenyan officials. Before his departure, Li had a short conversation with Speaker Kaparo. Both expressed the hope to further enhance the friendly exchanges between the governments and parliaments of the two countries. Li, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, gave a return banquet Wednesday evening at the hotel where he stayed. Speaker Kaparo, three cabinet ministers and other senior Kenyan officials attended the banquet. Before leaving Kenya, Li sent a message to Speaker Kaparo, expressing his thanks for the warm hospitality and good arrangements by the Kenyan government , the House and the Kenyan people. He said he was deeply impressed by the friendly feelings of the Kenyan people to the Chinese people. Li said in the message that "the friendly relations and cooperation in various fields between China and Kenya will surely continue to be developed." He arrived in Nairobi Monday for a four-day official visit. Kenya is Li's third leg of his Afro-Asian tour. He has visited Mauritius and South Africa and will proceed to Israel, Palestine and Oman. |
