Lingze County, a key place designated by the state for sand control in Gansu Province, Northeast China, has built three sand-break greenbelts on its north and south and at its center. These have enabled the county to accomplish the task of having 470,000 mu of land afforested aalong with 237,000 mu of farmland well protected from sandstorms, thereby turning the place into a large grain-cotton producer known in China.
