Ottawa Chinese Canadians Condemn Falun Gong

Dozens of Chinese Canadians in Ottawa expressed shock November 22 at the evidenced fatal consequences induced by practicing Falun Gong, the banned evil cult in China, and believed the Chinese government has been justified to ban the cult.

The criminal facts are convincing and should be made better known for common understanding of threat by any heterodox groups, the viewers said after watching a documentary projected at the Chinese Embassy.

The documentary, in both Chinese and English, shows horrible cases of suicides and injuries directly linked to the cult, which was launched without legal registration in 1992.

In one case, Tang Zhihua, a Falun Gong follower in Sichuan Province in southwest China, cut off his two-year-old son's genital and then his own because he believed the end of the world was coming, which was predicted by Falun Gong leader Li Hongzhi.

More than 1,400 people have died as a result of practicing Falun Gong and the documentary introduces the victims of the cult in details.

The Chinese government is justified in banning the cult to ensure social stability and the interests of innocent people, said Guo Shen, a senior engineer.

He criticized the unpopular practice of double standards, under which the United States has never been accused of human rights violation for its crackdown on Branch Davidian, while China is attacked for banning a similar cult of evil.

Dr. Meng-Ty Tam of Huichun d'Acupuncture Chinoise said that he has gained a better understanding from the documentary about Falun Gong's anti-science and anti-social nature.

He blasted cult leader Li Hongzhi for calling on followers to reject any forms of medical treatment for any kind of disease.

Many followers died because of Li's warning that if they otherwise went to hospital or take medicine, his "sacred body" would be taken away and he would be "no longer able to protect them."

Dr. Tam accused the cult of being unable to bear any disagreement from either an individual or the government, although it claimed "forbearance".

Other viewers pointed out that the so-called "non-political" organization is, in fact, quite political as it is inciting anti- Chinese government movements both at home and abroad.

They called for better popularization of the evidence to let the world know more clearly about the evil nature of Falun Gong.
