Italian Sets Track Record at World Cup Luge Race

Italian Armin Zoggeler set a track record Sunday as he won his second straight World Cup luge race at Sigulda, Latvia.

Zoggeler clocked a time of 48.822 seconds on his first run to break the previous mark of 49.184, set in 1997 by Austrian Marcus Prock.

Jens Muller, a two-time Olympic medalist from Germany, finished second with his compatriot Denis Geppert placed third.

The three finished in the same order last week in the opening race of the season.

Zoggeler has 200 World Cup points to lead the standings, with Muller at 170 and Geppert at 140. (Xinhua)
