Four HK University Scientists Receive CAS Fellowship

Four distinguished scientists from the University of Hong Kong have been elected Fellows of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), the University of Hong Kong announced November 18.

The four CAS fellowship winners are Vice Chancellor of the University Cheng Yiu Chung, Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University Cheung Yau Kai, Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology Kung Hsiang Fu, and Professor So Kwok Fai from the Department of Anatomy.

Together with Professor Che Chi Ming, who was elected CAS Fellow in 1995, the University of Hong Kong now has a total of five CAS Fellowships, the highest number of CAS Fellowships among the higher education institution in Hong Kong.

The Chinese Academy of Science Fellow is selected biennially among China's finest research scientists. This year, a total of 356 scientists were nominated for selection to be CAS Fellow, and 55 were awarded the Fellowship. (Xinhua)
