Denmark Qualifies for Euro 2000 Finals

Denmark overwhelmed Israel 3- 0 in their European championship play-off second leg in Copenhagen, Denmark on Wednesday, sweeping into the finals 8-0 on aggregate.

The Danes, European champions in 1992, were not content with playing it safe after Saturday's 5-0 win in Tel Aviv and displayed its attacking football before more than 40,000 home crowd.

Ebbe Sand scored the opening goal in the third minute after Israeli goalkeeper Shavit Elimelech was unable to hold Martin Joergensen's shot from the right.

Just 11 minutes later a well-taken free kick from 28 meters by Brian Steen Nielsen put Denmark 2-0 ahead.

In the 64th minute striker Jon Dahl Tomasson netted the third goal for the Danish team. (Xinhua)
