The outstanding musical director Charles Dutoit will lead the world-famous Orchestre National de France in performances in Beijing on November 19 and 20. Founded in 1934, the orchestra strives to carry forward music with French characteristics. The orchestra participated at the international symphony festival in Beijing in 1996. After taking the baton from another master, Lorin Maazel, in 1991, Dutoit has frequently acted as visiting conductor with many famous symphony orchestras. The French orchestra regularly performs at least 70 concerts a year, as well as touring internationally. Many of their performances are broadcast to all of Europe. The orchestra has invited a Chinese soloist to perform with it during the two Beijing concerts. |
