Archaeologists in east China's Jiangsu province recently unearthed what is believed to be the oldest fan in China when digging a tomb on the outskirts of Yangzhou dating from the Han Dynasty (206B.C.220A.D.). The fan has painted border and gauze surface. Before the discovery of this fan, the oldest fan in China was unearthed during the so-called Six Dynasties, 400 years later. Other funerary objects were excavated from the tomb including coins, an iron sword, and a copper seal. (Xinhua) |
