The newly developed "Yinhe" computer emulation system was approved on November 15, marking a breakthrough for China's hi-tech industry.

Experts from the Ministry of Information Industry and the General Armament Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, said it is the first Chinese-made emulation system that has reached international standards.

The achievement marks a leap forward in emulation technology from a single system to several systems, experts noted.

The system has been designed by the Computer Institute attached to the National Defense Science and Technology University. The Institute is located in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province.

According to army sources, the system can be used to conduct a three-dimensional emulation of military exercises. (Xinhua)
