Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid is preparing to get new candidates for replacement of three ministers believed to have been involved in the practices of corruption, collusion and nepotism.

"Corruption should be fought from the highest level, then to the lower level. Therefore, silently, I am preparing the substitute for ministers," Wahid said in a meeting with Indonesian students and citizens in Salt Lake City, the United States, on Saturday.

The Indonesian head of state, who is in the US for medical treatment of his poor eyesight, was accompanied by the Indonesian Ambassador to the US Dorodjatun Kuntjorodjakti.

Replying a question on how the new government will handle corruption cases in Indonesia, Wahid was quoted by the Antara News Agency Sunday as saying that corruption is happened as there is a bargaining in the service, or license approval process.

The head of state insisted on the requirement that the ministers in his cabinet be clean, modest and accepted by the people.

"If there is a minister committing a crime, he should be non-activated. While, if he proves to be guilty, he should be replaced by another. And, I silently have prepared such substitutes for the three ministers involved," he said without identifying them.

Earlier this week, Wahid said that he has ordered the attorney general to investigate the three ministers who are allegedly involved in corrupt, collusive and nepotistic practices in their respective institutions.
