South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is witnessing a booming domestic book market and international copyright trading.

The region densely populated by Zhuang and Miao ethnic groups has established ties with over 200 publishing houses from 32 countries and regions around the world.

It had concluded 3 million US dollars of copyright trading by the end of last year. Wanda Copyright Agency in the region has become one of China's three major copyright agencies.

Guangxi published 290 million books worth 4.1 billion yuan last year. Meanwhile, the circulation of newspapers and journals went up to 540 million and 46 million copies, respectively.

The region's largest book wholesale market, which covers 3,789 square meters, opened last month.

The big market has been propped up by people's increasing need for cultural pursuits, said officials from the local press and publication administration.
