Vietnam's National Assembly will convene its sixth session here on November 18 to discuss the socio-economic situation and some laws of the country, an official of the National Assembly announced in Hanoi on November 12. The session will discuss a report on the implementation of this year's socio-economic plan and the plan for the year 2000, a report on the implementation of the 1999 state budget and budget estimates for the year 2000, a report on the balance of the 1998 state budget, and reports on activities in the fields of social-economy, national defense, security and external affairs. The session will also hear reports by Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, the Standing Committee and specialized committees of the National Assembly, and home affairs agencies. The Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army (amended), the remainder of the Criminal Code (amended), the Law on Amendments and Supplements to a number of articles of the Law on Transfer of Land Use Right, and the Program on Building Laws and Ordinances in the Year 2000 will also be discussed at the session. The session will run for a month. |
