China's quick attacks pounded Argentina into straight sets submission as the Asian champions made it six wins out of eight matches in the 12-nation women's volleyball World Cup round-robin tournament in Kanazawa on November 12.

After earlier defeats against Cuba and Brazil, China cannot afford any mistakes if they are to finish among top three teams who qualify for the Sydney Olympic Games and they dismissed Argentina 25-17, 25-15, 25-16 with clinical precision.

China's 6-2 win-loss record leaves them joint fourth with Japan. Cuba and Russia head the standings with eight wins, one more than Brazil.

"We could win as we expected," China's coach Hu Jin said. "But nobody knows about the next matches. I hope our players will keep the pace."

For Argentina, the defeat was the eighth loss in a row.

"We played well at the beginning of each set," Argentine coach Caludio Cuello said. "But we couldn't maintain it."

Chen Jing was voted as the Most Impressive Player and Wu Yongmei was top scorer with 12 points.
