MPRP Joins Socialist International

The Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP) has joined the Socialist International, the party's Press and Information Service said in Ulan Bator on November 10.

The 21st meeting of the Socialist International held in Paris, France on November 8-10, accepted the MPRP as a member of the Socialist International, giving it an observer's status of membership. A total of 12 parties have been admitted by the organization at the meeting.

Speaking at a press conference, T. Baasansuren, head of the MPRP Department for Information, Advertisement and Foreign Relations, said that at the 22nd forum in early 1997, the MPRP decided to adhere to the democratic socialist ideology as its theoretical and moral basis. It has been supporting the policy and activities of the Socialist International, and working actively in recent years to join the organization.

Baasansuren added that the MPRP has been striving to realize the democratic socialist ideology in Mongolia and deems it a vital task to join the Socialist International.
