Chinese Communist Party Leader on Adolescent Crimes

Wei Jianxing, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has called on the Party and the all of society to give serious concern to adolescent criminals.

Wei made the call during a visit Tuesday to an ongoing exhibition at the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution which deals with the prevention of adolescent crimes.

Young people are the future of China and the successors to the achievement of socialist modernization, and the healthy growth of adolescents has a direct bearing on the future of he nation, Wei pointed out.

Referring to adolescent crime as a prominent social problem, Wei said the Party and society should give serious attention to the issue, and he called for increased efforts to prevent and reduce adolescent delinquency and crimes.

The special exhibition features some 1,000 photos, pictures and illustrations and a simulated court, attracting nearly 120,000 visitors since it opened on October 25.
