Kremlin Denies Rumor About Putin's Dismissal

The Kremlin on November 9 ruled out the possibility of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's resignation in coming days.

"The talks of the premier's possible dismissal spread among media are false," Igor Shabdurasulov, first deputy director of the presidential office told Mayak radio here.

"I respect Vladimir Putin and regard him as a principled person. As for President Boris Yeltsin, he has the same view toward him." Shabdurasulov said, noting that the rumor about his dismissal was spread "deliberately, proceeding from political motives."

He also said the Kremlin finds no need to introduce the post of vice-president before the presidential elections in 2000.
