Romanian President Emil Constantinescu said in Bucharest on November 9 that it is an important part of Romania's foreign policy to develop friendly and cooperative relations with China. The two countries have enjoyed a "time-tested friendly relationship" and Romania attaches great importance to strengthening traditional ties with China, said Constantinescu when accepting the credentials from new Chinese ambassador to Romania Chen Delai. Romania will adhere to the "One-China" principle, reaffirmed Constantinescu, adding that it will not develop any official relations with Taiwan, nor will it invite the Dalai Lama for a visit. The president spoke highly of the great achievements China has made in the past two decades of reform and opening, noting China, as a world power, has played an increasingly important role in world politics and economy. |
