World number one Andre Agassi became the first player to win at both of the prestigious Parisian men's tennis events as he added a Paris Open title to his French Open crown on Sunday.

Agassi beat the unseeded Russian Marat Safin 7-6 (7-1), 6-2, 4- 6, 6-4 in just over two and a half hours to win the tournament in the Bercy indoor stadium for the second time since 1994.

The American, set to end an outstanding season as world number one, is the winner of two grand slam events this season in a remarkable comeback after dropping to 141 in the world rankings early last year.
