Some one hundred tombs dating back to the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 B.C.) and the Tang Dynasty (618-907) have been excavated this year in Shaanxi Province, along with more than 600 cultural relics.

Archeologists say that for the first time, nine tombs belonging to the Qin Dynasty (221-206 B.C.) period in central Shaanxi and more than 160 pieces of jewelry, coins and pottery of many designs have been unearthed.

In addition, some 320 delicate relics from 97 Tang tombs and 15 inscribed bricks from the Northern Zhou Period (557-581) of high artistic and archeological value, have also been recovered, the archeologists said.

The tombs were found at a construction site in the city of Xianyang, the capital of the Qin Dynasty (221-207 B.C.), China's first feudalistic empire ruled by Qin Shihuang.
