Guyuan Prefecture in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is trying to see to it that every village will have access to radio and television programs by the end of this year. In the first half of this year, the prefecture had a cultural project to give 176 villages in mountainous areas access to radio and TV programs, a local government official said. By the end of the year, radio and TV services will reach 301 more villages in the prefecture, and over 90 percent of its population will have access to radio and TV. The prefecture has spent 2.32 million yuan developing broadcast services to provide better information via radio and TV for local farmers, who can get scientific and technological information this way to improve their standard of living and production, the official said.
