Chinese President Jiang Zemin left Dmman on November 3 for Beijing at the end of his state visit to Saudi Arabia. Jiang was seen off by Prince Mohamad, Governor of Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, Minister of Industry Yamani and other senior Saudi officials. Earlier in the day, Jiang visited the Jubail industrial zone and the headquarters of Saudi Aramco Company on the outskirts of Dmman. Saudi Arabia was the last leg of Jiang's six nation trip, which also included Britain, France, Portugal, Morocco and Algeria. During his stay in Liyadh, President Jiang held discussions with King Fahd and Crown Princes Abdul Aziz on bilateral relations as well as international issues of common concern and reached broad consensus. The two sides also signed numerous accords of cooperation in the fields of broadcasting, news reporting and oil. In the joint communique issued at the end of the visit, the two sides expressed satisfaction for the substantial development of bilateral cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic ties and reaffirmed their desire to raise such cooperation in the fields of political and economic fields to the level of strategic cooperation. Both sides also agreed that President Jiang's visit has achieved complete success and expressed the conviction that it will give strong impetus to the development of long-term, stable and wide-ranging friendly cooperation oriented towards the 21st century.
