Multi-Media Teaching Aids Introduced in Myanmar

The Myanmar Education Ministry has widely introduced multi-media teaching and learning aids in basic education schools in the country, aiming at uplifting the education standard of students.

Classrooms with such multi-media teaching and learning aids have been opened one after another in basic education schools from towns to villages throughout the country since the start of the present school-year term in June, according to sources at the ministry.

For the emergence of such classrooms, the Myanmar government and well-wishers are contributing the necessary funds.

The intellectual ability and standard of education of Myanmar students will improve further as modern teaching and learning aids are fully provided to them, the sources said.

The opening of such classrooms is also aimed at enabling students to be skilled in computer mass media techniques which are developing significantly in the world today, the sources added.

According to official statistics, Myanmar opened and upgraded 4,514 new primary schools, 421 middle schools, 214 high schools, 24 universities and 14 colleges during the past 11 years.

During the 11-year period, the government spent a total of 62,913.74 million Kyats (209.7 million US dollars) on the education sector. (Xinhua)
