Top Legislators Deliberate Agenda for Coming NPC Session
China's top legislative body Saturday started to deliberate the agenda of the upcoming Second Session of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC).
Li Peng, Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the eighth meeting of the standing committee.
According to the draft which was submitted to the meeting, the second session of the Ninth NPC will examine the government's work report to be delivered by Premier Zhu Rongji.
The NPC deputies will also deliberate the implementation of the national economic and social development plan for 1998 and the plan for 1999.
Finance Minister Xiang Huaicheng will report on the implementation of state and local budgets in 1998 and the draft of state and local budgets in 1999 to the session.
Furthermore, the deputies will examine the amendments to the Constitution, as well as the draft contract law and draft rules on the election of NPC deputies in the Macao Special Administrative Region.
Jiang Chunyun, Vice-Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, will make a work report of the Ninth NPC Standing Committee to the session.
Moreover, Xiao Yang, President of the Supreme People's Court, and Han Zhubin, Procurator-General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, will separately deliver their annual work reports.
