Chinese Defense Minister Meets British Counterpart
Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian met with British Defense Secretary George Robertson in London on Wednesday to discuss matters on strengthening the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two armed forces.
Chi, who is also vice-chairman of China's Central Military Commission and a state councilor, arrived in London from Pakistan Tuesday evening and left on Thursday for Cuba and Mexico for official visits.
During the talks in the British Defense Ministry Wednesday afternoon, the two defense heads exchanged views in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the development of relations between the two armed forces.
On Wednesday, the Chinese defense minister also met with the British Chief of the Defense Staff, General Charles Guthrie and the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Michael Boyce.
