A Laid-off Woman Worker Succeeds in Hog Breeding

ˇˇˇˇWoman worker Feng Qing was laid off by a big state factory in Xiangtan, Hunan Province in April 1994. To earn a living, she had tried diverse trades such as making shorts, selling vegetables and going to a drivers' school trying to get a driving license but nobody hired her. She had failed in all these efforts. Finally she started to raise pigs. In the beginning, many of her piglets died of epidemic. But she was not discouraged. She then bought lot of pig-raising books and listened to pig-raising lectures on the radio. As time goes on, she has mastered pig-raising skills and now her pigs number about 5000. Summing her successful experience, Feng Qing said: " Enduring hardships and working hard is the best way to get reemployed."
