Noble Pursuit
This article by Our Commentator says: Beginning from today, the People's Daily will carry a series of reports on the deeds of Li Xiangqun, a top-class hero and brave and strong anti-flood fighter.
In the ranks of the anti-flood heroes, L Xiangqun was one of the youngest, he only lived a life of 20 years and had been admitted into the Party for only eight days. Short as his life was, he had created a lofty image of himself as a Communist.
All heroes are similar, but Li Xiangqun's particularity lies in the fact that he was born in the same year of the inception of the reform and opening policy; in the process of which he had grown up into a new man. At ordinary time, he rescued the endangered and succored the poor, and took pleasure in helping others, at crucial moment, he stepped forward and volunteered to help. In the great anti-flood struggle, in order to protect the interests of the state and people, he charged forward regardless of his own safety, thus becoming an anti-flood hero of indomitable spirit, fulfilling the sacred mission of a revolutionary armyman and putting into practice the spirit and purpose of a pure Communist Party member.
The growth and maturity of a generation of new people represented by Li Xiangqun convincingly proves the success of our cause of reform and opening up.
Comrade Li Xiangqun had sacrificed his life, his spirit will educate and inspire thousands upon thousands of youths, soldiers and Communists. His example should become a force propelling our various undertakings forward.
