One Hundred Black Chimneys to Disappear in Beijing ĦĦĦĦThe construction of Shuangyushu Thermodynamic Plant, one of the 67 key projects in Beijing for greeting 50th anniversary of the foundation of PRC, has completed the main factory buildings, the main control building and chemical water processing workshop and the installation of boilers. It is a measure adopted by Beijing Municipality for air pollution control. Three 160-ton boilers powered by natural gas will constitute the heating system of the plant. When Shuangyushu Thermodynamic Plant connected with Shijingshan Thermal Power Plant in network, one hundred black chimneys of 400 boilers fueled by coal at Laohumiao in Haidian District and Shijingshan District will vanish for ever.
