China Is Opposed to Military Actions Against Yugoslavia

ˇˇˇˇIn her response to the question on Kosovo peace talks which is being held in Paris, Zhang Qiyue, the spokeswoman from Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs told reporters that China was opposed to any military actions against Yugoslavia.

ˇˇˇˇZhang said, we have noticed that the Kosovo peace talks have made some progress and would express our concern for the difficulties in the talks. China has always held the view that the Kosovo crisis should be solved peacefully on the basis of respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yugoslavia and safeguarding the legitimate rights of all nationalities in the area. China is opposed to any military actions against Yugoslavia. We appeal to the international community and all parties of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to work out a political solution by way of patient talks. Only this way would be helpful to the realization of peace and stability in the area.
