Kosovo Issue

*February 20 is the deadline set for the 14-day peace talks on Kosovo at the French town of Rambouillet. Britain, France and the United States are putting more pressure on Yugoslavia aimed to force it to accept the political solution to the Kosovo crisis.

*The threat of military intervention and deployment of peace-keeping troops to Kosovo is no good to the solution of the question, which will serve to support the splitting and terrorist activities in Kosovo, the Yugoslav government said in a statement on February 18.

*Russian President Boris Yeltsin reiterated warnings against the use of force in Kosovo in a letter to the US White House. Russia will not permit any attempt of military strike against Yugoslavia, the letter said.

*NATO military forces in Europe will strike targets in Yugoslavia, once the peace talks on Kosovo failed, US Secretary of State Madeline Albright warned Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic.
