Shanghai Fosters Small and Midsize Enterprises 　　Shanghai has been taking steps to nurture small and midsized enterprises. Relaxed ambience has been created through fund financing, technological development and setting up information intermediaries. 　　It was reported that Shanghai boasts more thannn 20000 small and midsized industrial enterprises, making up 97% of the total industrial enterprises with independent accounting in the city. Their output value made up about half of Shanghai's total, delivered exported commodities' value accounted for 62%, and the industrial added value, 46%, and their profits, 30%. 　　Over the past two years, considerable gains have been yielded in reforming the small and midsized enterprises involving instituting the share cooperation system, the corporation system, merging, insolvency, equity joint venture, cooperative joint venture, leasing, contracting and so on. 　　Shanghai has decided recently to enliven the small and midsized enterprises in 6 aspects: 1. Continue to rev up their reform and ownership shifting; 2. Determine and develop a group of city-type enterprises; 3. Stabilizing and enlarging a batch of pillar and matching enterprises; 4. Nurturing and expanding a group of hi-tech enterprises; 4. Reorganizing assets for money-lossing, sluggish and polluting enterprises; 5. Forming intermediary systems for the small and midsized enterprises, gradually building up 6. service systems involving development and training of talents, sharing of technologies and techniques, information, financing and market access.
