Tibetans Celebrate Joyful New Year
Lahsa youth Feng Yongyi who spent with his mother the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year on February 16, met on February 17 the first day of the Tibetan New Year with his Tibetan wife.
Buddhists flocked to the Jokhang Temple, one of the major temples in the Tibet Autonomous Region, early this morning to mark the Tibetan New Year's Day by worshipping Sakyamuni and praying for a luck and peace during the coming year.
One Buddhist official in charge of maintaining order said that the temple would host over 100,000 worshipers during the day.
The Potala Palace Square was brimming with families snapping photographs and joyful children playing with balloons.
