Chinese Swimmers Won Three Golds of Short Course Swimming World Cup

  Chinese swimmers collected three gold medals on the first day of the World Short Course Swimming Championship in Glasgow, Scotland, on February 13.

  With Zhu Yi completing an impressive double in the men's 50 meters and 200 meters breaststroke, Chen Hua had a comprehensive victory in the women's 800 meters freestyle.

  Zhu Yi, 20, won the 50m in 27.84 seconds, beating Olympic 100m gold medalist Fred de Burghgraeve from Belgium and Jens Jruppa of Germany by 0.14 seconds. The Belgian and the German, who clocked at 27.98 seconds, were tied in the second place.

  Chen Hua, who won the 800m event in Beijing last month at 16, took over six seconds off her personal best in winning in eight minutes 22.25 seconds. The Costa Rican Claudia Poll was almost 10 seconds behind in second place.
