New Custom for Spring Festival

ĦĦĦĦThe Chinese customarily follows a tradition of presenting gifts during the Spring Festival. The gifts used to be in a material form as of sweets, fruits etc. But this year, before arrival of the Chinese Lunar New Year there arises a new folk custom. For example, in Chengdu more and more people have come to exchange books as New Year gifts between relatives and friends. In Shanghai, people generally present theatrical tickets to their relatives. For farmers living in the suburbs of Changsha City, presenting New Year scrolls has become a much more popular thing than giving any other gifts or foodstuff.
