Vice Premier Extends New Year's Greetings to Foreign Experts

  Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing said yesterday that more foreign experts are welcome to come China to share their advanced science and technology, management expertise and all outstanding qualities in enhancing the civilization of the mankind.

  Welcoming foreign talent and expanding exchange of personnel is a basic principle of China, said Li at his meeting with foreign experts working in China.

  On behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, Li extended his good wishes to all foreign experts working in China yesterday before the traditional Chinese Lunar New Year, expressing his thanks for their support in China's modernization drive and their contributions to cooperation between China and the world.

  Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, said that as China opens wider to the outside world, more foreign experts are arriving in China to support the country's modernization in a multitude of fields.

  Li added that foreign experts bring not only advanced science and technology and management experience, but also with them mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and the peoples of other countries.

  He noted that China will try her best to provide good working and living conditions for foreign specialists, and protect their intellectual property rights and other legitimate rights in China.

  He concluded by expressing his hope that the foreign experts will continue to help and support China.
