G-15 Summit Starts in Jamaica
The ninth summit of Latin American, Asian and African developing countries, known as the Group of 15, was inaugurated on Wednesday by Jamaican Prime Minister Percival Patterson in Jamaica's port of Montego Bay.
Reports from Jamaica said that in his opening speech, Patterson, who also heads the G-15, blasted the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) for failing to put the recent world financial crises under control.
Patterson also said the WTO should urgently evaluate its work and protect the interests of emerging economies.
