Namibian President Praises Ties With China

Namibian President Sam Nujoma Monday spoke highly of the relations between his country and China, saying China has always been the strongest supporter of Namibia.

Nujoma sang the praise when he met Xu Jialu, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China in Windhoek, a press release Monday from the Chinese Embassy in Namibia said.

Nujoma thanked China for the support offered to his country before and after Namibia's independence in 1990.

He expressed the hope that the two countries could further enhance cooperation in political, economic and cultural fields.

Xu also praised the bilateral relations and appreciated the achievements of Namibia in safeguarding independence and developing the economy.

Xu and his delegation arrived in Namibia Sunday. He also met with National Assembly Speaker Mose Tjitendero and Deputy Prime Minister Hendrik Witbooi.
