Phones for Public Tip-offs 　　Since January this year a nationwide offence-reporting network has been set up by the Chinese Customs to cover many large Chinese cities including Beijing, Tianjin and Dalian, thereby starting the fight to beat back in China the ill offences of wanton smuggling from abroad. Initial success has been achieved to that end. 　　Incomplete statistics show that by January 1 known to investigation departments were over 70 criminal cases with a total worth of RMB$700 million yuan that had been investigated.
