Chinese President Sings Chinese Folk Music's Praises
President Jiang Zemin has said that the Central Nationalities Orchestra's forthcoming European visit will help promote cultural exchanges between China and Europe.
The orchestra will perform at Vienna's Golden Hall on February 16. After that, it will go to Germany and Denmark to continue its performances.
Jiang said in a letter to the orchestra that Chinese music has a long history and is a national cultural treasure that can be enjoyed by the rest of the world as well.
He wished it success in his letter.
Chen Xieyang will be the conductor of the more than 100 musicians in presenting a program that demonstrates the glory of China's music and instruments.
More than a billion music lovers worldwide will get a chance to hear this on Chinese and European television broadcasts.
