Ethiopian Forces Advance Under Planes Cover in Border War

The Ethiopian government announced Monday that "the Ethiopian defense forces are currently engaged in extensive counter-offensives on both the Badme-Sheraro and Tsorona fronts."

A statement issued by Office of Ethiopian Government Spokesperson Selome Taddesse said, "these counter-offensives are being supported by fighter planes."

The Ethiopian army has captured key military positions, the statement said, withholding details.

The Office said that "on February 7 at 05:45 pm, Ethiopian forces using heavy artillery, demolished an Eritrean radar station in an unpopulated area five kilometers southeast of Adi Quala."

The renewed fighting along Ethio-Eritrean border enters the third day Monday.
