Chinese Vice-Premier Mourns Death of King Hussein

  On behalf of the Chinese government, Vice-Premier Qian Qichen expressed condolences on the death of Jordan's King Hussein and placed a wreath at the Jordanian Embassy in Beijing February 8.

  Writing in the embassy's memorial book, Qian hailed King Hussein as a paramount leader and outstanding statesman who made " important contributions to the growth of Sino-Jordanian relations. "

  "The Chinese government and people deeply mourn the passing of King Hussein," he added.

  Ji Peiding, vice-minister of foreign affairs, Sun Guangxiang, vice-minister of foreign trade and economic cooperation, and Meng Xiaosi, vice-minister of culture, also expressed condolences at the embassy yesterday.
