NPC Vice-Chairman Meets with Uruguayan Visitors
Jiang Chunyun, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), in a meeting with Jaime Mario Trobo, president of the Chamber of Deputies of Uruguay in Beijing February 8, said that China is prepared to promote cooperation for mutual benefits with Latin America on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence.
Jiang welcomed Trobo on behalf of NPC Chairman Li Peng and said that bilateral relations have been developing well since the two countries established diplomatic ties a decade ago and that they share similar views on many issues.
Jiang said that the Second Session of the Ninth National People' s Congress in early March will be significant in maintaining rapid and smooth economic growth in China and for the rule by law and ensuring social stability because an amendment to the Constitution and the Contract Law will be discussed then.
