Western Returned Students Association Greets Spring Festival
The Western Returned Students Association, China's largest non-governmental organization for students returning from study overseas, held a party in Beijing on Sunday to greet the Spring Festival which falls on February 16-18.
Wu Jieping, the association's president, who is a vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), attended along with the ambassadors of the United States, Russia, Britain, Germany, France, and more than a dozen other countries.
Wu told the gathering that many well-known technicians, engineers, doctors, and scholars from among the nearly 10,000 Chinese members made close friends with foreigners during their period of working and living abroad and the association has always cherished its friendly relations with foreign countries.
Also present was Ding Shisun, vice-chairman of the NPC Standing Committee and vice-president of the association.
