Ethiopian Forces Capture Eritrean Army's Stronghold
Ethiopia announced on Saturday evening that its defense forces chased the advancing of the Eritrean forces and captured Geza Gerlase, a major Eritrean stronghold during the fighting which started at dawn of Saturday.
A statement issued by the Office of Ethiopian Government Spokesperson Selome Taddesse said: "The Eritrean attack launched this morning from the northeast on the Badme/Sheraro front has been successfully repelled through the determination of Ethiopian defending forces."
The statement said: "Not only did the Ethiopian army repel the attack, but, chasing the Eritrean forces, captured Geza Gerlase, a major Eritrean stronghold."
"Eritrea suffered heavy losses in the Ethiopian defensive action," it said, adding " The fighting at the Badme/Sheraro front continues."
