Samaranch: IOC to Adapt to Demands of Times
International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Juan Antonio Samaranch said in Lausanne on Thursday that the IOC would adapt to the demands of the times.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the World Conference on Doping in Sport, the president said: "Since its creation in 1894, the International Olympic Committee has never hesitated, giving the due consideration to political, social, scientific and technological developments, to adapt to the demands of the times."
"It will continue doing so now and in the future," he added.
Samaranch pointed out: "United by sport and for sport, the International Olympic Committee is determined to accept the challenge it faces to resolve its problems quickly and serenely."
The IOC has been embroided by vote-for-favor scandal surrounding Salt Lake City's bidding for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games recently. IOC's investigation has led to resignation of four members with five more suspended.
