New Mechanism to Guide China's Medicine Market
Deep reform will be carried out, firm measures are to be adopted, law enforcement will be tightened and a new mechanism is to be established to root out all profiteering in China's medicine market disrupted by an increased amount of fake and substandard medicines, the State Drug Administration declared.
A selective inspection on some major categories of medicines last year showed that 13 percent of medicines tested had failed to reach national standards, posing potential threat to people's health in China.
According to Zheng Xiaoyu, director of the State Drug Administration, medicine production is to be assessed and tested by unified national standards and special institutional organizations formed at the national level to promote a sound development of medicine production and markets in China.
