Former Senior Chinese Leader Yu Qiuli Passes Away
Former Vice-Premier Yu Qiuli died of illness in Beijing Febuary 3 at the age of 85.
Yu, a long-tested and loyal communist fighter and proletarian revolutionary, was a pioneer in New China's petroleum industry and an outstanding leader in economic work.
He was a member of the Political Bureau and a member of the Secretariat of the 11th and 12th central committees of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He was a Standing Committee member of the former CPC Central Advisory Commission.
He also served as a former member and deputy secretary-general of the Central Military Commission and former director of the General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
