China's NPC to Convene Annual Plenary Session March 5
The Ninth National People's Congress (NPC) will convene its second annual plenary session in Beijing on March 5 this year to examine amendments draft of China's Constitution and a government work report.
The decision was made at the seventh meeting of the Ninth NPC Standing Committee in Beijing Saturday. Nearly 3,000 deputies to the NPC across the nation will attend.
According to the decision, the proposed agenda for the 2nd session also includes:
-- examining the implementation of 1998 plan for economic and social development and ratifying the economic and social development plan for 1999;
-- examining the execution of national and local budgets for 1998 and national and local budgets draft proposed for 1999, and ratifying the national budget plan for 1999;
-- reviewing the draft of the country's first unified law of contracts and draft regulations on selecting Macao SAR deputies to the Ninth NPC;
-- hearing and examining work reports by the NPC Standing Committee, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
